In order to create a feeling that “Death Valley Chipotle” belonged to the people, we wanted to let people “Tag the Bag.” We also had to be creative and get around launching a product with the word “Death” in it. To solve the problem, I created an alliance with Death Valley National Park to create a facebook app (no longer active,) in which users could feed desert animals and learn about them. For every person that downloaded the app we gave $1 to Death Valley National Park, up to a total of $5,000. It was a win, win.
