“Put a Beard on It!” was a simple app developed for Travel Portland’s Christmas card. Playing off the popularity of the phrase, “Put a Bird On It” from Portlandia, “Put a Beard On It,”allowed any user to upload a photo and add beards to it, as well as Christmas hats and, of course, birds.
With a little bit of promotion on the company’s social media page, the app took off around the city. Even Mayor Sam Adams and the new baby elephant at the zoo got in on the action:
